Quo Vadis Ski Cross? Tyler Shepherd - director of the American Ski Cross Association in interview

Tyler Shepherd is the current and first director of the American Ski Cross Association and the former headcoach of the US Ski Cross Team. He was very kind to answer some questions.

What is the most exiting thing about Ski Cross from your point of view?
The fact that anything can happen is the most exciting. The best skier does not always win. Sure a good start is important, but we are seeing more passing now, and that makes the sport exciting and fun to watch.

Where would you like to see Ski Cross in four years?

I would like to see ski cross continue to develop on all levels. On the World Cup we need to see more consistent and challenging courses. As a whole the International community need to find some agreement on what constitutes as a "good Ski Cross course." I would also like to see the grassroots pick up more steam so that we have young athletes developing to take over and push the current veterans on the circuit.

What do you expect from the event in Grasgehren?

Grasgehren has done a fantastic job with holding Europa-Cup and FIS level Ski Cross events in the past. So this is a great step, and one that I would expect will be a great event across the board. They have the right people involved on the organizing side to be sure that the course is great and that a top notch event is held.

Best of luck and I'll be watching!

Tyler
